We put one of Outboard Motorlock's security devices to
the test over season, choosing the Yamlock model which
was suitable for a 5hp Yamaha motor.
The unit is of
sturdy construction in 316 stainless steel, very well finished
and polished. It has a neat Abloy lock mechanism, mainly of
brass, which works a stainless steel cam pushing two balls
into a locking channel. the slot is lined with a rubber sleeve,
which eliminates chatter and any risk of galvanised corrosion.
It not only performed
its function, but it looked good too, and it should last a
long time. The manufacturers are replacing the Yamlock with
a new model, the TSM001, which will fit most outboard motors
up to 15hp.
